Garden studio
Four hundred square feet doing the work of three rooms. We zoned the studio with a corner sofa, a generous rug, and a slim dining pair — each area legible in photos, all of it livable in person.
Design approach
Small spaces fail when every piece shouts. We gave the studio one confident anchor — the blue corner sofa — and let everything else go quiet: pale rug, leggy tables, sheer curtains that borrow the garden light.
Zoning without walls came from rugs and light direction: lounge rug facing the window, dining pair under the pendant, bedding in the alcove behind a low shelf that reads as a headboard from the door.
What we did
- Anchored one zone
The corner sofa defines lounging and gives the camera a single hero seat instead of four competing chairs.
- Chose one big rug
A generous rug under the lounge widens the floor visually where a small mat would have chopped it up.
- Floated the dining pair
Two slim chairs pull slightly off the wall so the corner breathes and the doorway view stays open.
- Tucked the bed
Crisp light bedding and one low shelf make the alcove read as a restful nook, not an afterthought.
Details from the project
Styled corners and material close-ups from the install and photo morning.
It showed like a much bigger home. Every corner finally had a job, and buyers could see themselves in all of them.Listing agent — Alameda
