Streamlined kitchen
A hardworking kitchen buried under small appliances and paper. We cleared every surface to three essentials, styled the open shelf once, and added a small dining moment — the listing photo became the kitchen, not the clutter.
Design approach
Kitchens photograph best when counters read as one continuous line. Everything migrated to cabinets or a single tray: kettle, board, one plant. The eye travels the whole run instead of stopping at each gadget.
We borrowed warmth from the dining corner — wood chairs, a linen runner, a bowl of citrus — so the kitchen feels like somewhere breakfast happens rather than somewhere chores happen.
What we did
- Cleared to three items
Each counter run keeps at most three objects, grouped on trays so daily cooking still works and reset takes minutes.
- Styled one shelf
Open shelving holds matching everyday pieces with breathing room, not the full cabinet inventory.
- Added task glow
A small lamp at the counter end warms the corner the overheads flatten, especially in evening shots.
- Set the nook
Two chairs angled to the window and a simple place setting suggest slow mornings without blocking the walkway.
Details from the project
Styled corners and material close-ups from the install and photo morning.
I cooked in that kitchen for six years and never saw it look that calm. The photos made it the standout of the listing.Seller — Berkeley
